Put your heart in our hands
The medical team at mount Saint Joseph Hospital (MSJ) really put their hearts into the compassionate care they provide.
Soon patients will have rapid access to vital new heart services at MSJ through the purchase of an echocardiography machine (ECHO).
The ECHO is one of the safest, most widely used tests for heart disease. It uses ultrasound waves to generate moving pictures of the beating heart, allowing cardiologist to see the size and structure of the heart, including valves, pumping chambers and major blood vessels.
The ECHO helps diagnose conditions like valve disease (more common as we age), and potential problems with the heart’s capacity to pump effectively. It can also be essential in helping to identify the cause of shortness of breath or chest pain.
Right now MSJ is the only acute care hospital in Vancouver without an ECHO machine. With your help, we can make sure patients at MSJ have access to this critical care tool.
With the ECHO in place, Providence Health Care will be able to expand its internationally renowned cardiac care services to MSJ. Patients will immediately benefit from rapid access to state-of-the art cardiac diagnostic testing. The ECHO will also help establish ambulatory cardiac care services for the general community.
