Donor Makes Half Million Gift to MSJ
July 28, 2016 – Vancouver, BC – Patients at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital (MSJ) have a special place in the heart of Mrs. Dolly Lee. The Vancouver philanthropist recently donated $500,000 to Tapestry Foundation for Health Care to purchase life-saving respiratory equipment for MSJ’s Intensive Care Unit, and to help create a special isolation/trauma room within the hospital’s Emergency Department.

In recognition of Mrs. Lee’s generous donation, the ICU is being renamed the Fung Kam Yu Wong & Yiu Nam Wong Intensive Care Unit, to honour the memories of Mrs. Lee’s parents, who were philanthropists in their time and supported a number of hospitals and charities in Hong Kong.
“We are deeply indebted to Mrs. Lee and the Lee family for supporting patient care,” said Ann Adams, Tapestry Foundation CEO. “Through her generosity, greater efficiencies in care delivery are being realized to meet growing demands for services, and to ensure that patients have access to the best care possible.”
Mrs. Lee’s gift is supporting the purchase a variety of equipment needed for critically ill patients with respiratory illnesses, such as pneumonia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neuromuscular diseases, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The donation also helps set in motion the creation of a self-contained isolation/trauma room within the Emergency Department to diagnose and treat patients who may have a serious infectious disease, and those requiring immediate critical care for life-threatening medical conditions.
Mrs. Lee’s recent donation falls on the heels of a Seniors Week celebration in June to recognize a previous contribution by Mrs. Lee to support the expansion of cardiac services at the hospital. In June, MSJ’s cardiac clinic was renamed the Dolly Ching Wan Wong Lee & Peter Chi Fai Lee Cardiac Ambulatory Clinic, to honour her gift, and the memory of her late husband.
